Votes in five constituencies today
Polling for by-elections to five constituencies in Assam will be held tomorrow as per the schedule announced earlier by the Election Commission of the country. Strict co-vid rules in Gosaigaon, Bhavanipur, Tamulpur, Mariani and Thaora, all steps have been taken by the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer of Assam to complete the free-and-secure polling process amid tight security
A total of 796,453 voters will decide the fate of 31 candidates who have contested in these five constituencies on this day. 1,176 constituencies in five constituencies have been deployed for the polls 5 410 officers. A team of officials has already left for some polling stations today. The Election Commission has given utmost importance to maintaining the covid rules and peace in the polling stations.According to the office of the Chief Electoral Officer of Assam, special measures have been taken to comply with the covid protocol at each polling station. Security measures like masks, sanitizers etc. will be available in addition to maintaining certain distances among voters. Similarly, CRPF personnel have been deployed at every polling station set up in view of peace and security
It may be recalled that the Election Commission has set up 285 polling stations in Gosaigaon, 213 in Bhavanipur, 322 in Tamulpur, 183 in Marianit and 173 in Thaora constituency. Out of these, 989 are main polling stations while 187 are allies. On the other hand, 796,456 voters will exercise their democratic rights in the five constituencies going to polls tomorrow. Out of these, 403,374 are male and 393,078 are women. There are also 4 third gender voters. Similarly, 8 in Gosaigaon, 8 candidates in Bhawanipur, 6 in Tamulpur, 4 in Marianit and 5 from Thaora constituency
