There are only two days left between diwali, the festival of lights. The Kamrup City District Police Administration has not granted permission till date for sale of high quality crackers in the city this Diwali. Some unscrupulous banis have been selling crackers illegally stored in city godowns without the permission of the administration

The administration has been seen to be mysteriously silent even as unscrupulous banias are selling crackers worth lakhs of rupees on Diwali eve by managing some police officers. It has been alleged that lakhs of rupees crackers stored in the second floor godowns of Ilahi complex and Jeevandeep building in Gallows Market have been allegedly sold, especially in a show of the administration’s policy. At a time when the police administration has not allowed retailers to sell crackers, there has been a lot of question in various quarters about how openly dishonest bania got the opportunity to sell crackers in gallows market godowns
