Strict warning not to increase the price of construction materials
Several cement and rod companies have recently come down in the rise in the price rise of fuel products. In the past, rising prices of cement and rods have severely affected the general public in the construction of houses. At this time, industry minister Chandramohan Patwari today strongly warned cement and rod companies not to increase prices at the behest of the chief minister. The chief minister recently directed industry minister Chandramohan Patwari to oversee the issue of price rise in construction materials amid the reaction to the sudden hike in construction materials.
A crucial meeting of the Industry Minister was held in Dispur on Monday with cement and rod companies.The meeting was attended by several companies including Topsame Cement, Star Cement, Dalmiya Cement as well as KDIron and Steel, Madurga Steel etc. The meeting highlighted the rise in cement and rod prices and made it clear that the state government has provided subsidy to companies in transport as well as coal and other fuel products at very affordable prices. In such a situation, the price of cement and rods can never be acceptable. In the meeting, the companies raised the issue of rising rod prices due to price rise in raw materials in the international market though the minister raised the issue of rising prices of raw materials in the international market. Making it clear that there is no, it is slow to point out that the prices of small amounts have gone up in the past. In this case Patwari also clarified that the neighbouring states of Meghalaya and West Bengal are supplying cement and rods at very low prices.
Therefore, it is not acceptable to increase the price of rods and cement in Assam as compared to these two states. During the meeting, the Minister also warned the companies that the transport department will take up the issue strictly in this regard stating that additional carrying of goods will not be tolerated for any reason. Minister Patwari today directed the companies to inform all the information about the items in the warehouse to the department.
