The inverted cost of the opposition protesting against the price rise! Mamata Banerjee, Arvind Kejriwal not reducing petrol-diesel state VAT

Protests against price rise all around. Opposition parties have been criticising the BJP government at the Centre in the media over the price rise in fuel products and the suffering of the general public. Congress, Trinamool Congress, CPM and anti-BJP regional political parties have protested against the hike in petrol and diesel prices on a regular scale.

The central government has tried to ease the anger fire by reducing the imposed duty on petrol and diesel following public outrage. The BJP ruled state governments have also reduced the vat amount of the state government in support of the central government’s decision. As a result people in most states of India have received little relief during the festive season. The government’s decision has not been supported by opposition political parties which have sparked strong protests against price rise.

In particular, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who has played a strong role against the Narendra Modi-led central government against the sufferings of the common man, has not reduced petrol-diesel VAT. As a result, the people of West Bengal still have to buy petrol and diesel at a rising price.
