BTC winter session begins, several bills likely to be passed
The btc winter session began on Wednesday with a two-day programme at BTC’s Legislative Council building at Bodofa nagar in Kokrajhar city. Several bills are likely to be passed in the winter session starting on Wednesday though some BPF board got into a heated debate over the BTC government’s policy rules. The BPF party was seen playing the role of opposition in the session of the Pramod Bodo led UPPL, BJP and GSP alliance council on Wednesday.
The BTC administration on the first day blocked the media from entering the Legislative Council building with mobile phones during the BTC session. There was a strong reaction among the news persons of Kokrajhar Press Club when the Speaker banned the entry of mobile phones into the council building during the session. The concerned authorities of BTC Legislative Council building prevented journalists from taking mobile phones inside to prevent them from collecting photos and video footage.
Senior Kokrajhar journalist Pritam Brahma Chaudhary participated in the protest programme and strongly condemned the decision taken by the concerned authorities of BTC Legislative Council Building. Journalist Kanak Chandra Boro has termed it as an unfortunate incident in the days of Digital India. However, in strong protests by journalists, he too agreed to the BTC authorities’ press of the BTC Legislative Council to respond to the situation and criticism that could arise in the BTC session The gallery allowed protesting journalists to enter with mobile phones.
