Successful operation of Special Operations Team (SOG) and Nunmati Police of Guwahati City. Six drug dealers arrested in the raid along with a large quantity of drugs seized, a luxury bike, some stolen mobile phones, including cash.
The arrested suppliers are Bhrigu Singh Barad, Hirakjyoti Nath, Mohammad Haneef Ali, Sirajul Islam, Suraj Zaman Sheikh, Mubarak Ali and Alok Gogoi. Police managed to seize 15 mobile phones, a luxury bike, 40 consignors and 38,0020/- in cash from the clutches of the arrested drug suppliers.
Nunmati police and SOG team from Central Police district raided the housing colony under Nunmati police station on Thursday night and raided Bhrigu Singh Barad and Nandangiri road in Dispur and arrested Hirak Jyoti Nath and seized two stolen mobilephones. The arrested two youths then arrested Mohammad Haneef Ali, Sirajul Islam and Suruz Zaman Sheikh from across pathrakuvari on the basis of their confessions and seized nine stolen expensive mobile phones.
On the basis of the confessions of the five, police arrested another man named Alok Gogoi from Jorabat under Vashishta police station and seized four stolen expensive mobilephones along with old drugs and cash, two soap packets, 40 empty packets used in drug trafficking.
It may be recalled that the six-member gang was involved in chain theft, robbery, mobile thieves and drug trade in different parts of the city. Police said the large gang had earlier been booked in various police stations in the city for drug traffickers, thefts, robberies, incidents and was jailed several times. The main accused in the gang on the other hand are drug dealers Bhrigu Singh Barad and Hirakjyoti Nath.
