Bike purchased afresh: Youth dies in accident due to helmet

A youth died on the spot in a road accident in Barpalhat under Baihata Crossroads police station in Kamrup district around 9.45pm on Monday. According to reports, a youth named Sofikul Islam (26), a resident of Baruajhar under Kharupatiya police station in Darang district, was riding a newly purchased Honda bike on national highway 15. At that time, the young man, who was speeding, lost control and slipped under the culvert near The Barpalha Temple and fell into the water with his bike.

Locals rushed to rescue the youth from under the water but the youth who had already suffered head injuries died. Eyewitnesses said the youth lost control as he also walked out of his head in the helmet worn by the youth. Which is why the said accident takes place. Police at Baihata Crossroads police station on Tuesday arranged an autopsy of the body.
