Assistant Sub Inspector suspended for bribery in Hojai

Assistant Deputy Inspector Harikamal Das working at Dobaka police station in Hojai was suspended for allegedly accepting bribe. Hojai superintendent of police immediately suspended harikamal das and lodged a reserve. Hojai police have also detained and interrogated bribe disbursed Mithun Chakraborty.

The Superintendent of Police has ordered a high level inquiry into the incident. The real incident will come to light soon after the investigation. It may be recalled that the scene of assistant deputy inspector Harikamal Das taking bribe at Dabka police station had evoked a strong reaction after the bribery scene went viral on social media. A video of Assistant Deputy Inspector Harikamal Das collecting Rs 2000 from a man named Mithun Chakraborty went viral.

Hojai district superintendent of police Varun Purkayastha is investigating the incident. The investigation revealed alarming information. The video of the money laundering has come to light in the investigation as it is nearly two months old.

Meanwhile harikamal das was given the money by the e-rickshaw driver through Mithun Chakraborty in the name of releasing an accidental e-rickshaw. Though the e-rickshaw driver has again denied the allegations after the video went viral. The police station broker mithun das collected the money from the e-rickshaw driver in the name of police and gave the money to Harikamal Das. Everyone has denied the allegations after the video went viral but the fact that the bribe was accepted in the viral video is believed to have been done. Mithun Das, who had already bribed Harikamal Das, has been detained by the police and interrogated at the police station. Senior police officials continued to interrogate assistant deputy inspector Harikamal Das by suspending him.

It may be recalled that Mithun Das himself captured the money giving scene to Harikamal Das on his mobile. The video allegedly blackmailed the police and tried to get his interests in various cases. The concerned circle has demanded a proper inquiry into the entire incident.
