Illegal kunda trafficking elephants, mout detained lekhapani forest department

As information about the cutting of precious trees of Assam and supplying Arunachal to various woodmills came to the fore, a joint operation was launched by the Lekhapani forest department and police in the Tirap reserve forest under The Lekhapani Regional Forest Officer’s Office in Margherita subdivision under Digwai Forest Division today. During the operation, a female elephant and elephant maut were arrested while illegally carrying smuggled cisterns and brought the lekhapani to the forest department office. The elephant’s name is said to be Shanti. Mautjan said the elephant is from Arunachal Pradesh. The forest department has already started investigating the entire incident and detained elephants and mouts in the lekhapani forest department.

It may be recalled that some unscrupulous circles have continued to spread their love in various parts of Assam by illegally re-submitting Arunachal documents by destroying precious trees in various protected forests under lekhapani forest department for a long time but the forest department has been accused of not taking any appropriate action in this regard.
