Transport department’s crackdown on two-wheelers violating law
Newly appointed Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup City district and chairman of district road safety committee Pallava Gopal Jha has emphasized the importance of creating road safety awareness among the people. In order to prevent the life of drivers and riders in particular, both drivers and riders of two wheelers wear helmets and both drivers and passengers of four wheelers have directed the District Transport Officer (Enforcement) to ensure that they use seatbelts and take strict action against drivers of vehicles that break the law. On the directions of the Deputy Commissioner, even today, the Enforcement Inspector, Assistant Enforcement Inspector and Enforcement Servants led by District Transport Officer (Enforcement) Himanshu Kumar Das conducted a surprise drive on GS Road (Shankardev Road) in Ganeshguri.
During the operation, both the drivers of two wheelers and the driver of the four wheeler and the rider sitting in front of them were detected in many cases of non-use of seatbelts. A total of 33 cases were registered under the Motor Transport Act in this regard. District transport officer Himanshu Kumar Das said that the transport department’s drive against drivers of motor transport laws and drivers of two wheelers and riders not wearing helmets, drivers of four wheelers and riders not using seatbelts will continue in the coming days.
