5 lakh AK-203 rifle approval centres

Another step to the country’s self-reliance in the defence sector is the Centre. The Centre has approved the construction of more than five lakh state-of-the-art K-203 rifles in the gun manufacturing project under construction at Karwa in Amethi, Uttar Pradesh. According to an official statement, Russia will have a stake in the gun manufacturing project to be set up in Amethi. The official statement said the new version of THE AK-47, built by Russia, will be built at the state-of-the-art AK-203 rifle Amethi gun manufacturing plant.

It may be recalled that the army will use state-of-the-art AK-203 rifles in place of insus rifles used by the Indian Army for the last three decades. The AK-203 built will be more powerful.
