Encounter again in Nagaon: Shot 1

The encounter was re-organised in katimari under Nagaon Sadar police station in the hands of police raiding teams in the wee hours of this afternoon. A drug trafficker was shot dead in the incident. It may be recalled that a couple of encounters had been organized earlier as well. According to today’s incident, a joint operation team of Nagaon police and Central Reserve Police Force tried to attack a policeman involved in drug trafficking with a sharp weapon to raid a drug base operating illegally in a house in Katimari.

Police were forced to fire in self defence in response to the attack on police on duty while conducting a crackdown on drug traffickers. The drug supplier who was shot in the shooting incident at Katimari near Nagaon city was later identified as Rafiqul Islam.Rafikul, who was shot in the leg in a police firing, was immediately treated at The Martyr Bhogeshwari Phukanni Civil Hospital in Nagaon. Epin, on receiving information about the incident, senior police officer Anand Mishra, etc. reached the spot and took stock of the incident and issued directions to the superintendent of police to investigate further in connection with the incident.

It may be recalled that in the past, the police and centrally protected police forces had gone to raid the drug base operating at Rafikul’s residence in Katimari. The raiding team told the media that they tried to attack the team with sharp weapons and also informed that the raiding police team had seized a large quantity of drugs and objectionable items from Rafikul’s residence.

Epin police arrested another drug supplier named Mofijul Islam as well as four other drug addicts from the drug base run by Rafiqul. It may be recalled that Mofijul is the main mastermind of drug suppliers in Nagaon.
