Nagaland massacre: Government set up 5-member inquiry committee, public life stalled in bandh…
Normal life has come to a standstill in the six-hour Nagaland bandh called by the Naga Student Federation to protest the army massacre of 13 innocent civilians in Oting, Nagaland. All businesses, shop market traffic and all government private offices have been closed during the bandh from 6am to 12pm.
The brutality of the Army has evoked all reactions in all the north eastern states of the massacre of Oting in Man district. Meanwhile a team of Nagaland Director General of Police T John Longkumar visited the area where the incident took place on Sunday to investigate the incident.
Meanwhile Section 144 has been imposed to control the law and order situation in Man and Twengsang districts which heated up on Sunday. Tension prevailed inside the two districts at present but the law and order situation is under control. Security has been tightened across Nagaland expressing apprehension scarcity of worsening situation in Nagaland.
All cultural programmes of the famous Hornbill festival have been cancelled till sunset on Monday December 6. Meanwhile the Nagaland government has set up a five-member special inquiry committee to probe the Tiru army massacre. The inquiry committee consists of IGP Limasunup Zamin, CIO Rupa M, DIG Manoj Kumar, Crime Branch’s Kilang Walling, SP Rally PA, and NAP’s District Commander.
The special inquiry committee will also have some Naga police officials. The team will visit the spot and collect eyewitness evidence. SIT will be supervised by Law and Order officer Sanjeev M Tomgodge. The committee will submit its report within a month.
Meanwhile an army court has ordered an inquiry into the massacre of Tiru civilians. Meanwhile the body of the deceased Gana will be cremated in public at the shooting on Monday. Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton will be present at the function. It may be recalled that the NSC has termed the massacre of the Army of Oting as such madness.
