Nagaland CHIEF Minister Nephiu Rio calls on Centre to remove AFSPA

The last tributes were paid today to those killed in the shooting incident in Man district of Nagaland. State Chief Minister Nephiu Rio and other top leaders paid their last respects to the victims while attending the function.

Terming the shooting of civilians in Oting as condemnable, Nagaland Chief Minister Nephiu Rio said in a media interaction: “I have spoken to the Union Home Minister, he has taken the matter very seriously. We have provided financial assistance to the families of the victims. We have urged the Central Government to withdraw AFSPA (AFSPA) from Nagaland. This law has tarnished the image of our country. ”

It may be recalled that the Centre has donated Rs 11 lakh to the working family who were killed in indiscriminate firing by security forces in Oating village of Man district. The Nagaland government has also announced rs 5 lakh to the families of the deceased
