Assamese language question paper not to be in APSC main exam
The Guwahati High Court has directed the Assam Public Service Commission to conduct the combined competitive main examination without language question papers. Hearing a case against the language question paper, chief justice Sudhanshu Dhulia and Justice Soumyusoor Saikia’s block on Friday. The bench gave this direction to the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC). Guwahati High challenging two notifications issued by the Commission in the years 2019 and 2020 exempting some candidates from appearing in the language question paper in the combined competitive examination. The case was filed in the court.
During yesterday’s hearing, the Advocate General on behalf of the State Government informed that it has recently decided to withdraw the language question paper in the cabinet meeting held on November 24. The advocates of the petitioners also expressed satisfaction over the decision of the state government. Based on the decision informed by the state government, the division bench of the Guwahati High Court yesterday informed the Commission of the language question paper i.e. Assamese, Instructs them to conduct the main exam slated to be held in January or February without the eligibility papers of Bodo and Bengali.
The high court on Friday directed to conduct the examination without a language question paper but the high court said it would reconsider other legal references to the entire matter and fixed February 14 as the next date of hearing in the case. It may be mentioned in context that earlier candidates should have appeared in the language number 300 question paper. This time the candidates qualified to appear for the main examination will be exempted from this 300 marks question paper.
