Wild elephant terror in Nahrbari village of Sirajuli, two houses demolished at night

A wild elephant that came out of the forest last night broke two houses and damaged the bari crop extensively in Diranga Naharbari Revenue village near Diranga forest area of Lakhimpur district forest division and kakai reserve forest area. Local sources said a wild elephant entered the village around 9pm after demolishing the residence of Subba’s widowed wife Suchimaya Rai and demolishing the residence of another man named Vinod Maghar in the village. The elephant also broke the banana trees, copper trees of several others in the village and left them in a tahilang. The local people have already reported the matter to the forest department office.
