More than 1 lakh jawans are missing in the country’s army

The defence ministry said on Monday that the country’s army lacks more than 1 lakh soldiers. The ministry said the army is short of 9362 officers and 1.13 lakh army personnel.

Replying to a question in rajya sabha during the current winter session, Minister of State for Home Ajay Bhatt said that there is a shortage of 7,476 officers and 97,177 soldiers including junior staff officers of the Ground Army.

Similarly, the Navy lacks 1,265 officers and 11,166 boats. The number of posts of officers lying vacant in the Air Force is 621 and 4,850 are vacant. The minister also said that it is the government’s effort to fill up the vacancies of the Armed Forces in a systematic and time bound manner.
