No one will use my photos and names I am not contesting elections: Rakesh Tikait
The year-long farmers’ movement against the Agricultural Act has come to an end. Farmers camping on ghazipur border led by Indian Kisan Union leader Rakesh Tikait are now back home. Tikait took out a march on Wednesday and returned home with the farmers during which he was warmly welcomed by the farmers of Meerukta. Tikait then said on Wednesday that he was not going to contest any election.
Rakesh Taikit told the media, “I am not going to contest any election and no political party should use my name or photo on its posters. ”
United Kisan Morcha, which is leading the farmers’ movement, had on December 9 announced the suspension of the farmers’ movement which has been going on for a year. The move came after the government promised to set up a committee on minimum support price (MSP) and withdraw cases registered against farmers.
It may be recalled that farmers had launched agitation against three agricultural laws on the Singhu, Tikree and Ghazipur border bordering Delhi and farmers have returned home after the central government recently repealed these laws. Farmers have left home to pack their goods in tractors and trucks.
