The minimum age to marry a girl from now on instead of 18 years is 21 years

The age of marrying a girl will be 21 years instead of 18. A bill in this regard will be introduced in the winter session of Parliament itself. The minimum limit for marrying girls in India will be 21 years instead of 18 years if the bill changes to the law.

If the bill approved in the Cabinet becomes law, marrying or marrying a girl under the age of 21 will become guilty in the eyes of the law. Statutory penal action will be taken against them for violating this law.

It may be recalled that PM Modi had earlier wanted the minimum age limit for girls to be 21 years instead of 18. He informed the nation about this from the Red Fort on Independence Day last year. Accordingly the child marriage law will be changed.
