Delhi: Many shops gutted in fire at Chandni Chowk market
A massive fire broke out at Delhi’s Chandni Chowk market early on Thursday. Luckily, no casualties were reported.
According to Delhi Fire Services (DFS), the blaze started from a shop at the Lajpat Rai market opposite Red Fort. Atul Garg, DFS chief, said, “We received a call at around 4.45 am about the fire. The team rushed to the spot and 12 fire tenders were deployed. The fire spread to a few other shops which were gutted.
It took about 3 hours later to douse the blaze. A preliminary inquiry into the matter showed that around 80 cardboard boxes had caught fire following a short circuit.
