Assam: Suspected drug dealer injured during police firing in Nagaon
As the drive against contrabands and illegal drug trade continues in Assam, another person was injured in police firing in Nagaon’s Rupahihat.
As per the police, the person injured in the firing has been identified as Jahangir Alom.
He is suspected to be a drug dealer and also accused of being involved in several other cases.
Alom was apprehended after a shootout at Saidaria in Rupahihat along with three boxes of suspected drugs.
He was shot by the police when he allegedly tried to flee from police custody.
He has been admitted to a medical facility for treatment as he was hit on his leg.
Earlier on Monday, another person accused of drug smuggling was injured in police firing in Guwahati’s Gorchuk area.
The injured person identified as Taser Ali is an accused in a drug smuggling and peddling case.
He was arrested on Monday for allegedly being involved in an international drug smuggling case.
The police said that Taser was involved in crimes related to illegal contrabands and was running the illegal trades with his wife.
