All effects of 36 hour closed down Itanagar…
A 36-hour bandh has begun in the capital capital Capital Complex area since this morning on the call of Sado Nishi Yuva Sansthan, i.e. ANYA (Ana). The district administration and the state government showed war time readiness for the bandh programme which started at 5 am. Ana, an organisation, had levelled allegations of rampant corruption against chief minister Pema Khandu. The organisation had issued several memorandums to the government alleging massive scams in government capital in departments like hydropower, gadkaptani, etc.
Chief minister Pema Khandu refuted the scam allegations by government spokesperson Bamang Felix declaring the allegations as ground-based. The organisation, which did not fall in response to the government’s reply, therefore declared a 36-hour bandh from 5am on January 13 to 5pm on January 14 at a press conference on January 11 demanding the resignation of chief minister Pema Khandu. The district administration declared the bandh programme illegal and the district administration deployed additional security personnel in the wake of the earlier bandh violence in Arunachal Pradesh.
On the other hand the state government ordered closure of mobile phone internet services in Itanagar from 5 pm yesterday to curb rumours during the bandh. The public has strongly criticised the government for shutting down internet services. Broadband internet services, however, continue. Chief minister Pema Khandu moved from Itanagar to West Chiang district yesterday as per the pre-scheduled programme a day before the ePine bandh.
In an interview to a news agency, Chief Minister Pema Khandu responded to the resignation of an NGO and termed the action demanding her resignation as a joke. He also said that there are political motives in its heart. It may be noted that it is not known what shape the situation takes with 24 hours left of the holiday. An attempt has been created across Arunachal Pradesh over the bandh programme.
