Dacoit shot at by Cachar Police
A dacoit, reportedly wanted in at least three cases of robbery, was shot at by Cachar police on Saturday night.
Hossain Ahmed Laskar (35) was detained by police on Saturday night from Sonai area. He reportedly attacked the police, injured two constables and tried to escape. Subrata Kumar Sen, ASP, informed the media that police opened fire at Laskar. He sustained injury in his leg. It was the third case of encounter where the arrested person reportedly tried to flee away from police custody and was shot at.
On Wednesday last, Tazuddin, arrested on charge of dacoity allegedly tried to flee away and had to face encounter. Next day, police arrested Haji Nizamuddin, a mafia dealing in illegal trading of Burmese betel nut from his Katigorah residents. While he was being moved to Silchar, Haji reportedly jumped from the police van. Police opened fire and Haji got injury in his left leg.
Meanwhile, family members and neighbours of Tazuddin, a resident of Dhanehari, Sonai claimed that he was innocent. Taz, according to them, was a day labourer and had no past record of criminal charges.
