Another arrest in Kalapahar murder case

Guwahati police has cracked the sensational murder case of 65-year-old Anu Hazarika of Gopinath Nagar in Kalapahar here, with the arrest of the third accused person, one Asmod Ali, from Bogaigaon on Saturday night.

A West Guwahati Police District (WGPD) team, led by ADCP West Subhasish Barua and ACP Kakoli Banya Barua, arrested the three accused persons in a series of raids over the last three days. Apart from Asmod Ali (21), the other two arrested persons are Baharul Islam (23) of Naldoba of Bongaigaon district and Rubina Begum (20) of Phaguna Gaon in Bongaigaon district.

A total of Rs 1.36 lakh and 5 mobile phones have been recovered from their possession.

Two accused persons are still absconding, police sources said, adding that further investigation is on to unearth more details in the case.
