The government employees in Assam will get a half day’s leave if they are willing to watch the film ‘Kashmir Files’.
Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma along with the MLAs of the ruling government watched the movie at a theatre in Guwahati on March 15 evening and urged the people of the state to watch it.
“The government employees who are willing to watch the movie will get a half day’s leave. They just need to show the movie tickets to their superior officers the next day in office,” Sarma told reporters.
‘The Kashmir Files’ is a Hindi-language drama film written and directed by Vivek Agnihotri. Produced by Zee Studios, the film is based on the exodus of Kashmiri Hindus during the Kashmir insurgency. It stars Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumar, Mithun Chakraborty and Pallavi Joshi among others.
The CM further urged the people of the state to watch the film.
“I congratulate the cast and crew of the film for bringing out the reality in this way. It is based on fact and research. It’s not fiction. I want all the people to watch the movie,” he reckoned.
The chief minister also added that the film is not about Hindu-Muslims but it reflects the pain and agony faced by the Kashmiri Pandits.
AIUDF demands a ban on ‘Kashmir Files’
Chief of All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) Badruddin Ajmal has demanded that the film ‘Kashmir Files’ be banned as it will create communal tension between the Hindus and Muslims in the country.
“The film should be banned immediately. It’s made to create communal tension. India has changed over the years… now things are not like the way it was shown in the film. We want peace…so this film should be banned,” said Ajmal.
Ajmal also hinted that he would urge the Centre for putting a ban on the film.
