6 Killed In Major Fire In Residential Complex In Telangana

Guwahati: A massive fire that broke out at a residential complex in Secunderabad of Telangana on yesterday resulted in at least six deaths and the rescue of seven other individuals.

This was informed by officials on Friday.

As per North Zone DCP Chandana Deepthi, the fire claimed the lives of four girls and two boys.

“Six people, including four girls and two boys, died in the fire. They were inside the complex when the fire broke out. By the time they were taken out, they were critical and were declared dead on being taken to a hospital. We also managed to rescue 7 people,” said Deepthi.

Fire tenders were on the scene and a rescue operation was in progress, according to Syed Rafique, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), North Zone, who spoke to ANI yesterday.

“A fire broke out around 7.30 pm. As we received word of the incident, fire tenders were rushed to the spot. Presently, six fire tenders have been pressed into service and more will be sent if needed,” he said.

The officer claimed he had a sneaking suspicion that a short circuit was to blame for the incident.

According to a victim who was extricated from the building, there were about 10 persons trapped on the fifth story of the structure.

Telangana minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav also arrived at the spot.

“Fire engines and rescue teams are at the spot, fighting the flames. There are reports that at least five to six people are still stuck in a room inside the building. Rescue teams are using iron rods to break the wall and rescue those trapped inside. So far, they have rescued 11 people,” Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav said.
