Assam Govt aims to promote Bihu as next big thing on world stage with PM Modi’s presence
Guwahati: The Assam Government is doing all possible to promote the culture of the northeastern state. The government is making every effort to turn the forthcoming Rongali Bihu festival, which is set for April 14, into a Guinness World Record event by having over 11,000 Bihu dancers perform together at the Sarusajai Indoor Stadium in Guwahati.
The Himanta Biswa Sarma-led BJP Government is making a major effort to advertise and publicise the festival throughout the cities of Delhi, Mumbai, and Kolkata. Many have expressed a significant interest in learning more about the festival, making the campaign a huge success.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to attend the ceremony; thus, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has been closely watching the preparations. The CM wants to make Assam’s Bihu festival an international cultural phenomenon.
“We are proud to showcase our rich culture and heritage to the world through Bihu. This festival is the lifeline of Assamese culture and we are striving to take it to the world stage,” said a senior state government official.
The three stages of farming are connected to Assam’s three times-yearly Bihu celebration. The Assamese New Year begins on Rongali Bihu, which falls in April, and is enthusiastically observed all over the state.
Men and women dance together in the traditional Bihu dance at the festival to the beat of the dhol and pepa (hornpipe). Til pitha, narikolor laddoo, and murir laddoo are just a few of the mouthwatering treats that are popular in Bihu.
With the Prime Minister there, the Assam Government intends to showcase the rich cultural history of the northeast and elevate Bihu to a significant international cultural event. The impending celebration of Assam’s colourful culture promises to be a great spectacle.
