Guwahati: Two people were detained by the Nellie Police in Morigaon district of Assam for allegedly smuggling gold.

Fake gold items weighing over five kilograms were also seized from their possession.

This was informed by officials on Thursday.

Based on specific input of a possible smuggling bid, a squad of police officials carried out an operation at Nellie in Jagiroad in the Morigaon district of Assam.

During the operation, three boat shaped items of gold were recovered from the possession of the two men by the officials.
