Guwahati: The Union Health Ministry on Thursday advised all the states to continue focusing on the 5-fold approach of Test-Track-Treat-Vaccination and Covid Appropriate Behaviour to battle the existing virus in light of the country’s rising COVID-19 cases.
The Health Ministry’s announcement states that the nation has administered more than 220.65 crore vaccination doses overall.
The notification stated, “We will do another mock drill to see the COVID-19 preparations. Mock drills will be done soon in all the states/UTs.”
“There has been no evidence of an increase in hospitalization. Precaution doses should be increased. Enhanced lab surveillance and testing of all severe acute respiratory Illness (Sari) cases needs to be done”, reads the statement.
The Ministry has also asked that the states make sure that all medical facilities have access to the necessary medications and supplies for influenza and Covid 19. States are also required to guarantee the availability of enough designated beds and medical personnel.
The number of new Covid cases reported in India on Thursday rose by 1,300, the most in 140 days, while the number of active cases rose to 7,605 overall.
4.46 crore cases of Covid-19 have now been reported overall (4,46,99, 418). The death toll increased by three, with one death each recorded by Karnataka, Gujarat, and Maharashtra, bringing the total to 5,30,816.
89,078 tests for the detection of Covid have been performed in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of tests for this purpose to 92.06 crore.
