India Records 1,590 New COVID Cases; Positivity Rate at 1.33%

Guwahati: There have been 1,590 new COVID-19 cases across India in the past 24 hours.

This was informed by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Saturday morning.

The heath minister was informed that there are 8,601 active cases at the moment.

4,41,62,832 people have recovered from the virus overall, including 910 in the last day, for a recovery rate of 98.79%.

Presently, the weekly positivity rate is 1.23 percent and the daily positivity rate is 1.33 percent.

The health ministry also reported that, as of Saturday morning, 1,19,560 COVID tests had been completed in the previous 24 hours, with a total cost of 92.08 crores for the completed tests.

India has so far administered 220.65 billion doses of the Covid-19 vaccine (95.20 billion for the second dose and 22.86 billion for the precaution dosage), of which 9,497 billion doses were given in the previous day.

The Union Health Ministry had earlier this week instructed all the states to continue concentrating on the 5-pronged strategy of Test-Track-Treat-Vaccination and Covid Appropriate Behaviour in order to combat the current epidemic.

The notification stated, “We will do another mock drill to see the COVID-19 preparations. Mock drills will be done soon in all the states/UTs.”

“There has been no evidence of an increase in hospitalization. Precaution doses should be increased. Enhanced lab surveillance and testing of all severe acute respiratory Illness (Sari) cases needs to be done”, reads the statement.

The Ministry has also asked that the states make sure that all medical facilities have access to the necessary medications and supplies for influenza and Covid 19. States are also required to guarantee the availability of enough designated beds and medical personnel.
