Massive landslide in Upper Siang causes major traffic jams and rolls down vehicles in Arunachal
Guwahati: A massive landslip that had been caused by two days of nonstop rain in Arunachal’s Upper Siang district on March 24 caused a major traffic jam.
Yingkiong-Tuting Town in the Upper Siang district, which borders China, experienced a significant landslip during the day that caused a major traffic jam and left many vehicles stranded for hours in the pouring rain.
Commuters parked their individual cars along the side of the road between Bomdo and Janbo. Numerous vehicles were severely damaged as they tumbled down with the rubble.
The circulation of vehicles on this road was rather hampered although there haven’t been any known fatalities up to this point.
The Upper Siang district government provided safety advice for commuters and residents entering Arunachal Pradesh amid torrential rain and landslip accidents.
Locals have been encouraged by the district administration not to travel during heavy downpours. Helmets and seat belts are required for commuters.
Motorists have also been asked to stay away from parking close to landslip zones.
Meanwhile, the northeast region has been experiencing severe rain for the past three days, which has resulted in significant traffic congestion and isolated landslip occurrences in some of the northeast’s seven states.
