SFI Continues Its Hunger Strike In Assam, Calling SEBA Reforms

Guwahati: The Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA) has been the subject of a six-day hunger strike by the Students’ Federation of India (SFI), which is calling for reforms.

The hunger strike was joined by a number of academics and teachers.

Seven SFI members, three of whom are going on a hunger strike due to serious sickness, initiated the protest.

The other SFI members said that the hunger strikers were denied access to medical care.

GMCH was rushed to treat two hunger strikers who were unconscious, according to sources.

According to the members, no government official showed any concern for the strikes.

Intellectuals and educators denounced the education minister’s comments.

SEBA on Friday issued directions for conducting the postponed science and language exams after the uproar over the question paper leak.

This occurred when the Higher Secondary Leaving Certificate (HSLC) exams in Assam were postponed and rescheduled after the General Science and Assamese language question papers were leaked before to the exams.

The station in-charges of the respective police stations will be required to accept the question paper packets in accordance with the most recent SEBA regulations.

According to the most recent announcement from SEBA, the testing centres’ supervisor would have to open the packages while being filmed by CCTV.

It should be noted that the General Science exam, which had to be postponed, will now take place on March 30, while the exams for all MIL/English (IL) topics will now take place on April 1.

The General Science question paper was leaked earlier this month during the ongoing HSLC Class 10 examinations in Assam, which led SEBA to cancel the exam. The opposition and students who reported being harassed harshly criticised the state government, which included education minister Ranoj Pegu.
