Guwahati: An alert was issued in Uttarakhand over the potential of pro-Khalistan preacher Amritpal Singh entering the state while the search for him continues.

This was informed by informed by state Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) V Murugesan on Saturday morning.

The Khalistan supporter who fled from Punjab, according to information he acquired from the Punjab Police, may enter Uttarakhand through Haryana, the man claimed.

The top cop announced that checks and monitoring were being conducted, and that alerts had been placed in all likely locations.

Furthermore, the district police have been informed, and the border has been put on notice.

In the early hours of Wednesday, an alert was issued in the Uttarakhand districts of Dehradun, Haridwar, and Udham Singh Nagar as a precaution due to the potential for Amritpal Singh to enter the State.

Both the Delhi Police and Punjab Police began a search operation in Delhi and its surroundings after information that Khalistan sympathiser Amritpal had been seen at Delhi’s ISBT bus terminal.

Intelligence reports have speculated that he might be pretending to be a sadhu.

The Punjab Police had raised concerns about Amritpal crossing the border into Delhi in anything other than a bus.

Three weeks after Amritpal’s supporters battled with police officers at the Ajnala police station on February 23, demanding the release of one of his close aides, Lovepreet Toofan, Punjab Police initiated an operation against Amritpal and his aides on March 18.

Thousands of supporters assaulted the police station brandishing swords and powerful weapons, warning them of grave repercussions if Lovepreet Toofan—who had been arrested on suspicion of beating and kidnapping a man—was not released.
