Crackdown on child marriage: Assam Man Arrested From Meghalaya For Marrying Minor
Guwahati: Amid the relentless crackdown against child marriages, Assam Police arrested another person for marrying a minor girl.
After the state government’s crackdown on those implicated in child marriage cases, the apprehended individual was on the run.
Assam Police made the arrest after receiving information about his whereabouts.
The arrested person identified as Aminul Islam was arrested from Tura in Meghalaya.
According to reports, Aminul Islam is a resident of Kanaihmara village in Hatsingimari.
Reportedly, Islam married a 15-year-old girl from the same village.
Meanwhile two other people were arrested by the Assam Police in South Salmara-Mankachar on suspicion of child marriage.
