Ranoj Pegu: 52,000 Tablets will be Distributed on Chatra Divas

Guwahati: Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu on Sunday informed that as many as 52,000 tablets will be distributed to students on Chatra Divas in Assam.

Assam will observe March 31 as Chatra Divas or Students’ Day and will be observed throughout all educational institutions in the state in an effort to honour the memories of the former president of All Bodo Students’ Union Upendranath Brahma.

According to Ranoj Pegu, the state government will give students 52,000 tablets on this day.

He explained that special drinking water facilities would be available for the minority students.

The education minister declared that 26,225 female students will each receive financial aid between Rs. 4,000 and Rs. 2,000.

In addition, 7723 postgraduate students would receive financial aid in the amount of Rs. 10,000 to cover their college and university expenditures.

The government has allocated approximately Rs. 12 crore for the aforementioned tablet distribution programme and student financial help.

Not only that, but the education minister also announced that 16,763 students would receive Rs. 7158 towards their hostel bills in addition to Rs. 1450 for the purchase of books.

The tablets and financial aid will be given out on Students’ Day at Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra in Guwahati by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

At least 337 colleges and nine universities in the state would receive funding of up to Rs. 18387 crores from the state government.
