Guwahati: In the ongoing war against drugs, a huge quantity of brown sugar has been seized by Silchar Police on Monday.
Based on specific input of a possible smuggling bid going down, officials carried out an anti-narcotics operation in Sonabarighat bypass at Cachar district of Assam.
During the operation, as many as 33 soap boxes filled with brown sugar has been seized by the officials.
The seized brown sugar is worth approximately Rs 2 crores in the international drug markets.
Moreover, two people including a woman has also been arrested by the officials.
The arrestees have been identified as Seno Begum Laskar and Shahrukh Hussain, residents of Rupaibali.
Meanwhile, officials further informed that the two accused held were members of the same family.
