Guwahati: Assam Governor Gulab Chand Kataria stopped by Assam Agricultural University and Assam Women’s University to assess the various initiatives carried out by the universities on his first visit to Jorhat on Sunday.
Governor Kataria advised the scientists and academic staff at the Assam Agricultural University to focus their research on enhancing the production of agricultural products and helping to improve the quality of life for farmers.
He emphasised the necessity to compensate farmers fairly for their produce.
He also encouraged university students to investigate the field of agroentrepreneurship, saying that it not only provides financial independence but also increases agricultural production, by encouraging them to be innovative.
Meanwhile, Kataria asked the university community to lead the ground-breaking research for the advantage of the agriculture sector and the well-being of the farmers in light of Assam Agricultural University’s vital role in agricultural research and the ensuing rise in agricultural outputs.
Kataria also visited to Assam Women’s University, where he spoke with staff members and students.
The governor said, “Assam Women’s University is an academic bastion for women’s education and is serving as a vital pillar in promoting women’s education in the state and empowering them through higher education.”
