IIT Guwahati ranked among top universities in world For 14 Topics

Guwahati: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati is one of the top universities in the world for the study of 14 courses, according to the most recent edition of the most often regarded university ranking.

This was said by QS Quacquarelli Symonds, a global higher education analyst.

The top universities in the world for the study of 54 academic disciplines were identified in the 2023 edition of the QS World University Rankings by Subject, published by QS Quacquarelli Symonds.

Petroleum Engineering, in which IIT Guwahati ranks 51–100 globally and second in India, is reportedly the field in which it has fared best.

The institution is ranked in two more subjects this year than it was the year before. Six of IIT Guwahati’s programmes saw increases in their rankings.

The engineering and technology discipline at IIT Guwahati is ranked 222nd in the world. In the fields of chemical engineering, mechanical, aeronautical and manufacturing engineering, electrical and electronics engineering, the institute has received rankings between 201-250.

Speaking about IIT Guwahati’s performance in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2023, Prof Parameswar K Iyer, Officiating Director, IIT Guwahati, said, “IIT Guwahati is working hard to deliver quality education which will play an important role in building a brighter future for all. Aligning with the National Education Policy 2020, the Institute is further improving research and development collaboration in multidisciplinary subjects. This has been possible through the collective efforts by all the faculty and students.”

Data science, marketing, and art history are three brand-new academic fields that have been included to the QS World University Rankings by Subject this year.

Moreover, IIT Guwahati scored 67.5 in mathematics, which was its strongest category for Employer Reputation.
