Railway cops keep strict vigil on influx, nab 3 Rohingyas in Tripura

Guwahati: Three illegal Rohingyas have been arrested by the troopers of Railway Protection Force (RPF) from a Delhi-bound train earlier this month.

This was informed by officials on Monday.

As per information received, the tri was nabbed by the RPF personnel during a routine check on March 20 from Anand Vihar-bound Tejas Express.

When the three women were questioned, they were taken into custody by the RPF because they were unable to provide sufficient information regarding their identities.

The three women were later revealed to be Rohingyas from Bangladesh who had illegally entered India with the aid of an agent.

The agent was also arrested in connection with the investigation.

It is believed that the group had planned to travel to New Delhi in search of better employment opportunities when they boarded the train at the Dharmanagar railway station in the North Tripura district.

A case has been filed against the group under the pertinent laws.

An investigation to unearth further linkages is on.
