World Boxing Championship: Following her victory, Lovlina Borgohain expressed her happiness at changing colour of her trophy to gold

Guwahati: Lovlina Borgohain thanked her parents on Twitter for their unwavering support after winning her first gold medal at the World Championships on March 26 in New Delhi.

“Extremely happy to win my third medal at the World Boxing Championship. After winning two Bronze medals in a row, I am happy to convert the colour of my medal to Gold this year. I am grateful to everyone who has been a part of this beautiful journey,” tweeted Lovlina.

India’s Lovlina Borgohain made boxing history by taking home the gold medal in the 75 kg final during the Women’s World Boxing Championships on March 26.

She defeated two-time Commonwealth Games medalist Caitlin Parker of Australia in a closely contested match.

Lovlina previously earned two bronze medals at the World Championships, making this her third medal overall. She has once more proven her mettle and brought honour to her nation with her great performance in the competition.

Lovlina made a good start against her Australian opponent in the last match. The second round saw Caitlin Parker fight back valiantly, showcasing her ability and agility, and she ultimately prevailed.

Yet Lovlina persevered and made a tremendous comeback in the third round. She won the match and the gold medal with her deft punches and swift movements.
