Guwahati: In the ongoing war against drugs, a massive quantity of illicit drugs has been seized by Assam Police from Bokajan under Karbi Anglong district on Tuesday.
Moreover, the seizure led to the arrest of one people.
Acting on a tip-off, Assam police conducted their routine check at Purana Lahorijan area and seized the drugs.
During the operation, a vehicle was intercepted by the police officials.
Upon searching, around 500 grams of illicit drugs stuffed in 45 packets was recovered from a hidden compartment of the vehicle.
The arrestee has been identified as Pawkhanlal Manlon.
Upon interrogating, Pawkhanlal revealed that the dugs were smuggled from Manipur.
A case has been registered against the arrested individual under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
In a similar incident, around 20 kilograms of ganja has been seized by the railway police.
Moreover, two women has also been arrested in connection with the seizure.
The arrestees’ women have been identified as Meena Devi and Anju Devi.
As per reports, the duo were nabbed from a Silchar-bound train.
The illicit market value of seized ganja is approximately to be in lakhs.
Meanwhile, Palashbari officials arrested two peddlers from Mirza and seized a number of drug-filled containers from their possession. It should be noted that the arrest was made possible by vigilant locals who caught the duo in the act.
