Tripura’s TIPRA Motha MLAs stage protest demanding re-examination for students forced to write exam in Bengali

Guwahati: On the third day of the Tripura Legislative Assembly’s session on March 28, Tipra Motha MLAs protested, calling for a re-examination of some students who had allegedly been forced to write in Bengali.

The students were compelled to write in Bengali despite using the Roman character of the Kokborok language for their final exams at Ampi Nagar Higher Secondary School in the Gomati District.

The MLAs asserted that the invigilator told the students to cease writing in Kokborok or else their answers paper would not be checked when they began writing the paper in Roman script in the Kokborok language.

However, later Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha, who is also the Education Minister of Tripura promised to look into the matter.
