Guwahati: The leader of Khalistan and Waris Punjab Da, Amritpal Singh, is expected to give up in Punjab as the enormous manhunt for him began its 12th day on Wednesday. However, there is no official confirmation on the report.
The extreme leader has been evading capture since March 18 despite a police crackdown in Punjab. On March 18, when his convoy was stopped in Jalandhar, he was able to elude the police. He has been fleeing ever since.
Amritpal Singh reportedly arrived back in Punjab on Tuesday, but police were unable to apprehend him because he managed to elude them by avoiding a police checkpoint in the state’s Hoshiarpur district. On the off chance that Amritpal Singh and his friends, including Papalpreet Singh, were inside an Innova automobile, a team of cops reportedly gave chase to the vehicle. The suspects, however, escaped and abandoned the vehicle in the Marnaian community of Hoshiarpur.
The fugitive commander has reportedly returned to Punjab to hand himself in. He’ll probably give up in Amritsar’s Golden Temple.
Once believed to be in Nepal, the Khalistani separatist has been on the run for the past 12 days. India also encouraged Nepal’s authorities to be vigilant and prevent the extreme preacher from emigrating, which led to the placement of his name on a surveillance list.
The Waris Punjab Da head has been evading capture since March 18 despite a large search effort by the Punjab Police to find him. When the police stopped his convoy near Jalandhar, he was able to elude them and escape on a motorcycle. Since then, he has escaped to a number of states, dodging numerous checkpoints and switching vehicles and hiding places numerous times, including Haryana, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, and Delhi.
Punjab and Haryana High Court last week pulled up the Punjab government as Amritpal Singh managed to evade arrest despite a “well-planned operation” and called it an “intelligence failure”. “You have 80,000 cops. How could Amritpal escape despite a well-planned operation and huge force to support the operation,” the HC said.
