Guwahati: A centre in Morigaon district of Assam on Thursday expelled at least six students who were taking the General Science subject of the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examination.
Reports claim that the incident took place at a Moirabari secondary school examination centre where the students were prohibited from appearing the examination.
It is established that the students misbehaved in the exam hall which prompted the officials to decide to prevent them from appearing for the test.
It should be noted that the Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA), which administers the HSLC test in Assam, held the postponed General Science examination today.
A new date for the exam was required because of the issue surrounding question paper leak instances. A section of candidates purportedly obtained access to the General Science (C3) subject’s question paper before the test since it had reportedly been leaked.
After the news, SEBA immediately announced the cancellation of the exam via a notification.
A new date will be announced soon, the Assam education minister assured students on Twitter later. He urged students not to “panic or feel disheartened”.
The SEBA announced the new date for the General Science exam in a notification on March 13.
Following the question paper leak, Assam Police conducted a thorough investigation to identify individuals responsible and bring them to justice. Many people were arrested as a result, including teachers and students.
