Guwahati: A fatal road collision took place at Tamulpur on the Rangia-Bhutan International Highway in the early hours of Sunday.

As per reports, the truck’s driver truck who was carrying coal died on spot.

According to eyewitnesses, the dump truck was coming from Bhutan while the coal truck was travelling in the opposite direction, towards Rangia. Owing to careless driving, the dump truck abruptly drifted to the incorrect lane and collided with the coal-carrying truck.

The collision generated a major backlog of traffic on the motorway. Locals came running to the scene to assist with the rescue effort.

The police were alerted right away, and a group of policemen was sent to the area to look into the situation.

The driver of the truck carrying coal was identified as Manoj Sharma, a resident of Rangia. The police have opened an inquiry and registered a case to ascertain what caused the collision.

Such accidents on the highway have become a common occurrence due to reckless driving, overloading of vehicles, and poor road conditions. The relevant authorities should act right away to increase road safety and avoid future incidents like these.
