Assam: Smuggled Timber Seized By Forest Department in Goroimari

Guwahati: The Forest department launched a number of operations in South Kamrup as part of a significant crackdown on the illegal timber trade, which led to the recovery of smuggled timber and wood chips in Goroimari.

The Goroimari Forest Officer directed the operation, which included a variety of targets in the area and had great success.

The Forest department raided the region and recovered a sizable amount of lumber that was being smuggled out of the area. The illegally obtained wood was loaded onto a magic van, which the law enforcement also seized. The van with the bearing registration number AS25-DC-2071 was being used to move the illegal products, which were allegedly going to a number of locations outside the state.

The officials from the Forest Department who took part in the operation, disclosed that the value of the smuggled timber was several lakhs of rupees. The wood chips were thought to be a part of the same illegal trading network and were also seized during the raids. The department believes that the smugglers were engaged in extensive timber smuggling and had been active in the area for quite some time.

The Goroimari Forest Officer, who oversaw the operation, was praised for his efforts by the Forest department officials. They claimed that the officer had played a significant role in the operation’s success and that the area’s illegal wood trade had been severely curtailed thanks to his leadership and direction.

The Forest department has recently been on high alert, and their efforts have produced fruitful outcomes. The department has been conducting routine operations in different regions of the state to stop the smuggling of lumber and other natural resources. Also, they have been collaborating with other organisations to stop the illegal trade and save the state’s forests and animals.

Overall, the South Kamrup raids represent a key turning point in the state’s battle against the illegal wood trade, and the Forest department’s efforts are praiseworthy. The public has been reassured by the authorities that they will remain watchful and take the necessary steps to save the state’s woods and wildlife.
