Guwahati: At least six people have been confirmed dead following an avalanche that hit Tsomgo’s 17th Mile on April 4, a popular tourist spot in Sikkim.
Reports state that an avalanche that hit the area and caused a tourist bus to crash into a steep valley resulted in four male, one female and one child died after suffering grave injuries.
Reports claim that more than 150 people are trapped in the knee-deep snow.
Rescue efforts to free the visitors stranded in the snow are ongoing among the locals.
Further rescue operation teams have been informed about the incident.
Sikkim Police have arrived the spot and are engaging in rescue operations.
