Vehicle Carrying 2,000 Bottles of Phensedyl Seized By Assam Police
Guwahati: In yet another successful achievement, a huge quantity of illegal drugs has been seized by Assam Police on Monday in Karimganj district of Assam, which is located near the border with Tripura.
Acting on a tip off, a vehicle was intercepted by the police officials in the district.
Upon checking, 2,000 bottles of Phensedyl were seized from the vehicle by the officials.
The market value of the seized drugs is estimated at around ₹10 lakh.
The vehicle was on its way to Agartala from Guwahati when it was stopped.
The driver of the vehicle has been identified as Ranjit Baishya.
Currently, Baishya is being interrogated by the police officials.
Phensedyl is a commonly abused substance, and both its sale and use are prohibited in India. Youths frequently use it for recreational activities, but it has harmful side effects on the body, including addiction and physical harm.
According to the police officials, the cocaine seizure represents a big achievement in the fight against drug trafficking in the area. Police have been conducting frequent raids in the area as part of their increased attempts to stop the illegal drug trade.
The public has been urged by the authorities to come forward and report any suspected drug trafficking-related activities. They have also threatened drug traffickers with harsh action from the law enforcement community if they don’t stop their unlawful activities.
