Telangana BJP Chief Held in Connection With SSC Paper Leak

Guwahati: Telangana police have arrested Bharatiya Janata Party’s President Bandi Sanjay Kumar in relation to an alleged leak of SSC (Secondary School Certificate) exam question papers.

The SSC question paper for the Hindi exam got leaked just a few minutes after the exam started on Tuesday. The SSC exam’s Telugu question paper purportedly leaked the day before as well.

Sanjay Kumar was initially held in connection with the second suspected paper leak since it was allegedly found that the accused, an exam centre invigilator, had been in communication with him. The ruling party of Telangana– Bharat Rashtra Samithi– had accused the BJP president of being linked to the leak before Telangana Police detained him at Karimnagar. Pictures of the main suspect and Kumar were also being shared on social media at the time of the arrest.

According to BRS MLA P Sudarshan Reddy, Sanjay Kumar received the leaked question paper (for the Hindi test) in his Whatsapp account. “Why did the accused who leaked the question paper send its copy to Bandi Sanjay’s Whatsapp?” he asked in a statement issued on Wednesday.

One of the most significant exams for students in Telangana is the SSC, which attracts about 5 lakh applicants yearly. Students and their families are deeply upset and concerned about the question paper leak. The Telangana state administration threatened to take harsh punishment against anyone in charge of the leak.

A political uproar has also resulted from Sanjay Kumar’s detention, with the BJP accusing the government of attempting to incriminate its leaders in baseless cases. The Telangana government has been accused by the BJP of attempting to deflect attention from other urgent matters and has been called for a comprehensive probe into the situation.

The BJP president was taken to the Wardhannapet Police Station in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri asfter his midnight arrest. His arrest has not been recorded until Wednesday.

There have been other instances of question paper leaks in Telangana, thus this is not the first of its sort there. The administration has vowed to take severe action to prevent similar situations in the future to ensure that students can take their examinations without worry or fear.

While in Assam, Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal sharply condemned the Himanta Biswa Sarma-led administration over recent HSLC paper leak occurrences in the state.

Addressing the gathering at the AAP’s first mega political conclave in Guwahati on Sunday, CM Kejriwal said, “How Himanta Biswa Sarma-led government will function in the state where there are incidents of question paper leak? I have been running the Delhi government for last years; Bhagwant Mann is running the government in Punjab since past one year, there are no such paper leak incidents in these two states.”
