Guwahati: Assam Legislative Assembly on Wednesday approved three bills related to the education department during the ongoing budget session. This was informed by education minister Ranoj Pegu.
Pegu presented the three bills pertaining to the department of education to the House.
The bills include the following:
- The Assam Elementary and Secondary School Teachers’ (Regulation of Posting and Transfer) (Amendment) Bill, 2023
- The Assam College Employees (Provincialisation) (Amendment) Bill, 2023
- The Assam Science and Technology University (Amendment) Bill, 2023
The aforementioned bills passed on today’s thirteenth day of the Assam Legislative Assembly’s current budget session.
Congress MLAs—including opposition leader Debabrata Saikia—staged a walkout earlier today following a contentious discussion between the governing and opposition parties about the implementation of the Assam Accord.
Minister for the Implementation of the Assam Accord Atul Bora countered a query raised by Leader of the Opposition Debabrata Saikia regarding the implementation of the Assam Accord on the thirteenth day of the Assam Assembly session.
Bora asked, “What was the Congress government doing in the past? Congress should ask this question at Rajiv Bhawan in Delhi.”
The opposition leaders made the decision to perform a walkout in response to Bora’s comments regarding the Assam Accord.
